The coastal town of Lantana is situated between South Palm Beach and Manalapan on the east coast of Florida.
Nearly every where you turn in Lantana there is water and the town’s 8-acre beach has historical significance as the legendary “Barefoot Mailman” made the sand famous. The term barefoot mailman came to light from tales of the pioneer days. It refers to the carriers on the first U.S mail route between Palm Beach, Lake Worth, Miami, Coconut Grove, and Lemon City. Shirt off, shoes off and an eighty-mile trudge through beach sand in the blazing Florida sunshine at a time when there were no roads or railroad connecting the cities.
Today the beach is enjoyed by residents and tourists alike for relaxing, soaking up the Florida sun and building an impressive sandcastle or two.
